- FOR preparing batter-
- 2 cups rice
- 1 Cup urad dal
- 1 tsp fenugreek seeds
- 2 Cups water or as required
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper powder
- for tempering-
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp mustard seeds
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 5-6 curry leaves
- 2 pinches asafoetida
- for Garnishing-
- as needed Green coriander leaves
Instructions to make to make Idla (White dhokla)
- For preparing batter: take a big vessel & wash rice and urad dal and fenugreek seeds and soak it for 8 hours.

- After 8 hours drain the water and transfer the soaked lentils to blender and blend it smooth paste (if required add water).and keep aside for 6-8 hours for the fermentation process.



- Further, add salt and combine well. Now, put a big pan or steamer on gas add water at the bottom of the steamer and boil it. Next, take a dhokla plate grease it with oil, and pour the batter & sprinkle pepper powder.



- And steam it for 35 minutes on low-medium flame. Once dhokla is steamed then check it using a toothpick. And take it out from the steamer and keep it aside for 15 minutes.


- For tempering: take a tempering bowl to add oil, mustard seed, sesame seeds once it is crackle then add asafoetida and curry leaves. And spread that tempering on dhokla. And garnish it with green coriander leaves



- Serve it with green chutney, mango ras.
